Our History
Our slogan is more than a phrase, it is our history -- Born in Italy, developed in Brooklyn, here for you since 1972.
Our founder, Peter Giovanniello (pictured at right), migrated from Italy in 1955 with his family. They settled in Brooklyn where Peter took a job at a restaurant owned by his cousin. After a couple of years learning the trade he opened his first pizzeria in Brooklyn at the age of 19. Shortly thereafter he met and married his wife, Mary. They would go on to start their own family raising four children.
How the family arrived in Wellsville is unlike many other stories. Peter wanted to take the family out of the city for a short trip to see the countryside, so a trip to the Poconos was planned. However, bad weather in the region pushed the family further west on Route 417 (I-86 did not exist as we know it today). As fate would have it, on what was supposed to be a short getaway, the family found a farm for sale and fell in love with it. Peter and Mary decided to sell everything in the city and move to Angelica.
The farm life proved to be difficult. Peter knew he could do it, but also understood that financially he could do better so he went back to his roots. In 1972 he found a building for sale in what was then the busiest town nearby (Wellsville). He purchased the building and Pizza King of Wellsville was born.

Sunday: 12pm - 9pm
